How Tight Should My Compression Garment Be?
The garment should feel snug and supportive without restricting breathing, movement or circulation.
How Should the Garment Feel?
The garment should fit closely around your body and feel supportive. A gentle sense of pressure is expected with these products.
It should not restrict breathing, sitting, standing or normal movement. Being able to continue your everyday routine is a useful sign of comfort.
Signs That Need Attention
Tell your healthcare team if you experience any of the following so the garment can be assessed:
Tighter Is Not Better
Making the garment tighter does not speed recovery. Excessive tightness can cause discomfort, make regular wear difficult and affect circulation.
If the garment feels loose, consult your healthcare team about being measured again rather than choosing a smaller size yourself.
